Computers in the Workplace

For this blog, I will discuss information technology in corporate America. I have worked for several fortune 500 companies, and no matter how much money they make- all of their computers are outdated. I’m currently working for a company that is heavy into technology, but our computers are old and slow. Our software is always at least 3 versions behind. We use programs such as salesforce that can be programmed to fit any needs, yet we don’t take advantage of those capabilities. We have software that is just good enough to get the job done. If the companies spent a little more money on technology, the job could be done faster.

With information technology advancements, our systems and programs have the capabilities of automating work via imacros and running scripts. It can be a little frustrating at times for people like me who know all of the potential features that are going unused. Without computers and having certain tasks automated, the amount of work would greatly outnumber the amount of employees. It is very important for people to be computer literate in order to truly take advantage of the features the systems offer. With the proper money invested, computers can relieve most of the work that is now processed by humans so that we can focus on other things that need more attention such as safety and teaching the public how to conserve energy.
